President's Perspective

Fellow Members,

Some 28 members responded to our Annual Conference Survey so I thought I’d share the final results with you.

• Approximately 78 percent of members rated the Conference excellent while 22 percent rated it very good.  There were no lower ratings than very good.
• Some 52 percent of members rated the Conference content extremely helpful, 39 percent very helpful and 4 percent somewhat helpful.
• A whopping 87 percent of members thought the length of the Conference was about right while 13 percent felt it was too short.
• Approximately 61 percent of members rated the Conference an excellent value for the money while 30 percent found it a very good value.  Nine percent found it a good value.
• In terms of career development, nearly 48 percent of members found the Conference extremely valuable, 30 percent found it very valuable, 17 percent somewhat valuable and 4 percent not so valuable.
• And finally, 68 percent of members said they were extremely likely to attend future conferences while 25 percent they would very likely attend.  Nearly 4 percent said they were somewhat likely to attend and four percent concluded that they were not at all likely to attend.

Suggestions for future topics included panels or presentations on criminal cases, regulatory and state proceedings, elder law issues and a judge providing their insights about experts from the bench.

Please know that if you have ideas for Conference presentations or panels for next year, forward them to David Keogh, who will be planning the 2019 Conference, or to me.

This year we got terrific coverage in an article by Rick Ryder in the Securities Arbitration Commentator (SAC).  The article was also their blog pick which receives 5,000 unique vistors per month. Rick’s comments can be found at this link. In addition, our first of four advertisements ran in SAC's ArbCheck Update that is emailed to a highly targeted audience of attorneys. We will be closely monitoring our traffic.

As always, let me know if you have ideas to improve SER or want to become more actively involved.  New leadership has always brought fresh approaches and innovation.
