The President's Perspective

Greetings from South Florida,

The board of directors of the Securities Experts Roundtable (“SER”) is continually on the lookout to add so-called “deliverables” to the membership. To this end, SER is undertaking an effort to expand our ties to the 17 Securities Arbitration Clinics located throughout the United States. Speaking to a clinic is an opportunity to give something back to the local legal community and, in return, raise the visibility of one’s expert witness practice. (We will notify you as soon as our website is updated with current information.)

Our Annual Meeting and Conference kicks off in just three short months on 22-23 July at The Union League Club (“ULC”) in New York City.

For those unfamiliar with the ULC, it is an easy cab ride from LaGuardia Airport and within walking distance from both Grand Central Terminal and Pennsylvania Station (making Amtrak and MetroNorth attractive rail alternatives). For those still wedded to their automobiles, the Club sits on the Southwest corner of East 37 th Street and Park Avenue South in the fashionable Murray Hill district of New York City and has preferred parking rates with two nearby garages.

President-elect Jeffery Schaff and Controller Patti Koetting have just about completed an exciting and instructive program and mandatory fun extra-curricular activities including a Saturday “Spouses/Significant Others Day” chaired by Debby Krasner and Eunice Salton and a Saturday evening event for all.

In keeping with recent custom, SER attempts to take advantage of attractions unique to the host city, and this year will be no exception. For example, two years ago SER held its annual meeting in San Francisco at a truly special place - The Marines Memorial Club. CBS recently sent correspondent Scott Pelley of 60 Minutes to visit this shrine – I urge you to watch the video found at http://www.cbsnews.com/news/preview-gold-star-parents/.

Aside from the “fun” aspects, I again remind all those who have yet to attend an SER annual conference that spontaneous networking among like-minded professionals is the most valuable benefit SER membership bestows both as a learning experience and as a source of member referrals.

As I will repeat each month for the balance of my term in office, please remember that new members are the plasma that re-invigorates SER’s lifeblood. The approval process has been streamlined, so be on the lookout for qualified candidates. We have two in the pipeline at this writing.

Respectfully, Bruce Foerster
