SER ACTIVITIES - WHAT'S CIRCLING AT THE ROUNDTABLE?

The committees of The Securities Expert Roundtable are hard at work to constantly enhance of value of membership. We are pleased to report the following:

The Communications/Web Committee, Chaired by Rick Ryder, is responsible for designing changes to the SER Website, and implementing those changes. Recent accomplishments included adding functionality to the Member Webpages, allowing members to link to their LinkedIn page as well as upload their current resume. We encourage you to check out the SER Newsroom which regularly posts articles from SER members and also disseminates to our LinkedIn Page. All members are encouraged to contribute ideas for further Website changes, supplying resource materials to the Library, and telling us about newsworthy items for the SER Newsroom. Look for new enhancements in the works including adding functionality to link to a video on your profile and to a facelift updating the website layout!

The Finance Committee, Chaired by Elizabeth Falk, has as its mission, to develop SER annual budgets; oversee and implement the raising and investment of funds to finance the organization and activities for the benefit of its participants; implement and oversee expenditures; maintain financial controls. The committee is pleased to report that SER is in sound financial condition with no debt and adequate liquidity to conduct our current level of operations. FinCom’s second quarter meeting was held on July 11th. As of that date, the upcoming Conference was expected to at least break even (our stated goal) and two Conference Sponsorships had been purchased.

The Membership Committee, Chaired by Alan Besnoff is responsible for reviewing the qualifications of prospective members and processing applications for committee and board approval. Members are encouraged to identify prospective members and enlighten them with regard to the benefits of membership. Alan Besnoff has recently taken the reins as Membership Chair The committee is pleased to announce the following new Voting Members – Patrick Dennis and William Fender.

The Nominating Committee, Chaired by Paul Carroll, is tasked with identifying and recruiting qualified and interested members to serve as officers and directors of SER. Nominating Committee met this quarter to nominate Geraldine Genco Dube to the Board of Directors position that opened up in June. The Committee's nominees standing for election at the Annual Meeting in St. Paul and approved by the membership were the following: Geraldine Genco Dube - Nominee for Board of Directors; Bob Graham – Nominee for Board of Directors; Jack Hermann - Nominee for Board of Directors; Ross Tulman - Nominee for Board of Directors; Elizabeth Falk – Nominee for President-Elect; current President-Elect David Keogh also took office as SER President at the Annual Meeting.

The Public Relations Committee, Co-Chaired by David Keogh and Carrie Wisniewski, is tasked with raising the awareness of SER as an organization. The committee working in coordination with the Communications/Web Committee is pleased to announce the publication of the second quarterly issue of the SER Expert’s Examiner. The committee has also facilitated SER advertisements in SIFMA and PIABA resources as well as bi-quarterly ads in weekly B/D Court Decisions email from SOLA (Securities Arbitration Commentator's Online Litigation Alert).
